Tim and Daniella designed their Savannah micro wedding around the relationships, places, and traditions that mattered most to them. Their day began with a private ceremony beneath the live oaks of Forsyth Park, continued with wedding portraits throughout the park and Savannah’s Historic District, and concluded with an intimate reception at Churchill’s on Bay Street.
Photographically, the celebration offered everything we value about intimate weddings. There were honest emotional moments, time to create refined portraits, beautiful Savannah scenery, and a relaxed reception shared with family and friends.
Their finished collection blended natural color photography with fine art infrared black and white imagery, allowing us to document the wedding as it felt while also creating a more interpretive portrait of Savannah itself.

An Intimate Wedding Ceremony in Forsyth Park
Tim and Daniella exchanged vows beneath a sweeping canopy of live oaks with only their closest family members and friends gathered around them.
Seen from their child’s perspective, the exchange of rings becomes a tender family moment beneath the live oaks.
The scale of the ceremony allowed everyone to remain emotionally connected to the moment. Their child stood nearby as they exchanged rings, creating one of the most meaningful photographs of the day. Laughter, expressions, and small gestures could be observed without interrupting the ceremony or changing its natural rhythm.
We approach intimate wedding ceremonies quietly. Our goal is to preserve the relationships unfolding around the couple while allowing everyone present to remain focused on the vows. Working discreetly with silent cameras enables us to photograph close emotional moments without becoming part of them.
Forsyth Park provided a magnificent setting, but the people gave the ceremony its meaning.

Wedding Portraits Around the Forsyth Park Fountain
Following the ceremony, Tim and Daniella spent time together creating portraits throughout Forsyth Park.

The park offers far more visual variety than the iconic fountain alone. Live oaks, Spanish moss, shaded pathways, open lawns, flowering trees, and the long promenade allow a portrait session to evolve naturally without requiring extensive travel between locations.
We began with photographs that preserved the happiness and energy immediately following the ceremony. Tim and Daniella walked hand in hand, talked, laughed, and enjoyed their first quiet moments together as a married couple.
The Forsyth Park Fountain then became part of the composition rather than simply a landmark behind them. By using the length and symmetry of the promenade, we could create a portrait that felt distinctly Savannah while keeping the couple and their connection at the center of the photograph.

Color and Fine Art Infrared Wedding Photography
Tim and Daniella chose to add fine art infrared black and white photography to their wedding coverage.
Infrared photography interprets light and foliage differently from a traditional camera. Green leaves become luminous, moss appears almost weightless, and the familiar landscape takes on an ethereal quality. Savannah is particularly beautiful in infrared because its live oaks, dense greenery, historic architecture, and filtered light already possess a dreamlike character.

The sweeping infrared photograph of their ceremony reveals the scale of the tree above them while preserving the intimacy of the small group gathered beneath it. Other infrared portraits transform an ordinary walk through the city into something timeless and expressive.
These photographs are not simply color images converted into black and white. They are created with specialized photographic equipment that sees light beyond the visible spectrum. The process requires us to anticipate how the environment will translate before the photograph is made.
Traditional color photography preserved the warmth of the day, the flowers, natural skin tones, and atmosphere of each setting. Infrared gave Tim and Daniella another visual interpretation of the same experience.
Together, the two approaches created a wedding collection that felt emotionally honest, editorial, and distinctly their own.
Editorial Wedding Portraits in Savannah’s Historic District
After leaving Forsyth Park, we continued with portraits in Savannah’s Historic District.
The visual character changed immediately. The organic shapes of the park gave way to aged plaster, brick pathways, architectural facades, ironwork, and the quiet elegance of the city’s historic streets.
A quiet moment between Tim and Daniella becomes an editorial portrait shaped by the texture and character of old Savannah.
One of our favorite locations featured a beautifully weathered wall marked by generations of age and exposure. Rather than concealing its imperfections, we used its texture and scale to create a refined editorial composition. Daniella’s gown and colorful bouquet stood in contrast to the muted architecture, while photographs of the couple together revealed a softer and more romantic side of the same setting.
We have always believed wedding portraits should feel connected to the place in which they are created. Savannah’s architecture should not simply appear in the background. Its history, texture, light, and scale can become part of the visual language of the photograph.
The time reserved for portraits also gave Tim and Daniella a private interlude between the ceremony and reception. They could experience Savannah together without immediately stepping into the next scheduled event.
That space often produces photographs that feel more natural because the couple has time to settle into the day rather than moving through a rigid list of required images.

Documentary Photography at Churchill’s
The celebration expands as Daniella and Tim welcome family and friends to an intimate reception at Churchill’s on Bay Street.
The celebration continued at Churchill’s on Bay Street, where approximately 50 family members and friends gathered for dinner, cake, music, and dancing.
Our approach shifted naturally from portraiture back to documentary observation. We photographed guests arriving and reconnecting, conversations during cocktail hour, the details of the reception tables, Tim’s toast to Daniella, and the spontaneous interactions that gave the evening its personality.
These photographs are essential to a complete wedding story. The portraits may become the signature images displayed on a wall or preserved in an album, but the candid photographs bring back the people, energy, and relationships surrounding the couple.
A smaller reception allows us to work close to the emotional center of the celebration. We can anticipate reactions, observe conversations, and preserve moments that might disappear within the scale and production of a larger event.

Live Music, Cake, and a First Dance
Savannah blues musician Ray Lundy performed during dinner, bringing a soulful local atmosphere to the reception.
Live music gradually led into Tim and Daniella’s first dance. Framed through a sequence of doorways, we photographed the couple within the architectural scale of the room as Ray performed nearby. The moment was captured in both the warmth of the reception and the ethereal visual language of fine art infrared black and white photography.
As the dance continued, family and friends joined them. The evening became less formal and more celebratory, creating joyful candid photographs of the couple surrounded by the people they loved.
The cake cutting offered another familiar wedding tradition, thoughtfully scaled to the intimacy of the reception. The cake and Daniella’s bouquet introduced rich color and detail into the photographs while reflecting the intentional simplicity of the day.

A micro wedding should not receive a smaller photographic vision.
A joyful exchange with one another reflects the relaxed and personal atmosphere of Tim and Daniella’s celebration.
Tim and Daniella’s celebration included the same emotional and visual depth found within a much larger wedding. There were private vows, family relationships, editorial portraits, meaningful details, dinner, live music, cake, a first dance, and a room filled with people who mattered to them.
The difference was intention.
Their ceremony remained private. Their portrait experience had room to unfold. Their reception welcomed a broader circle of family and friends without losing its sense of intimacy.
For us, photographing a micro wedding means understanding how each part contributes to the complete story. It requires documentary awareness during the ceremony, thoughtful direction during portraits, sensitivity to architecture and light, and the experience to recognize meaningful reception moments before they disappear.
